Embryo Quality

Fertilization is the union of male and female reproductive cells (the sperm and the egg) to produce a fertilized egg (zygote). Once this essential biological process occurs successfully, the resulting fertilized eggs are considered embryos. The embryo’(s) development is then monitored by specialized incubators and carefully cultured for several days in our state-of-the-art laboratory environments to ensure the highest quality embryos are achieved.

Our laboratory in Las Vegas, Nevada provides a carefully controlled environment where embryos are monitored and cultured with the highest level of precision. Our embryologists assess embryos based on specific criteria such as the rate of cell division, the uniformity of the cells, and overall morphology (i.e. the shape and size of the embryo when viewed under a high power microscope). This allows us to select the healthiest appearing embryos for transfer or for freezing, which increases the likelihood of a successful outcome for patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF).

An embryo’s genetic makeup also plays a key role in personalized fertility care. In some cases, we may recommend preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to gain additional insights into the chromosomal or genetic health of the patient’s embryos before transfer. This evaluation helps guide thoughtful decision-making throughout the treatment process. By combining advanced technology with the expertise of our specialists, we aim to provide every patient with the best possible chances of success. Our focus is always on achieving not just fertilization, but healthy embryos that give families the strongest foundation for the future.
